Johnson, Glenda

Glenda Johnson began creating hard-shelled gourd art, vases and other unique sculpted pieces in the 1990s. She chooses gourd varieties such as apple, dipper, bushel, swan, kettle and bottle, whose natural shapes inspire her creative ideas. Decorated with a variety of techniques including engraving, wood burning, weaving, clay, leather stains, dyes and paints, her multi-media projects also include found and vintage objects, metals, rustic woods, chalk painting, oil and acrylic paints and image transfers.
