"Desert Fortune" Original Watercolor by Ian Russell

Looks like this old goat finally struck it rich.

In “Desert Fortune,” Ian Russell brings his signature humor and Western storytelling to a seasoned desert prospector who just happens to be a goat. Dressed in a weathered cowboy hat and well-worn vest, his pockets—and even his hatband—are loaded with glimmers of gold, suggesting those long days searching the desert may have finally paid off.

Behind him, a rustic wooden mining shack sits among prickly pear cactus, rugged canyon walls, and the sunbaked landscape of the American Southwest. Ian’s detailed watercolor work gives the goat remarkable personality, from his expressive eyes and sweeping horns to the texture of his coat and frontier clothing.

Playful, colorful, and unmistakably Western, “Desert Fortune” is a tribute to prospectors, dreamers, and anyone stubborn enough to keep digging until they hit a little pay dirt.
