David Groenjes takes one of nature’s least-loved little creatures and gives it a complete industrial makeover in Mosquito, a one-of-a-kind sculpture handcrafted from reclaimed metal and salvaged mechanical parts.

The personality is all in the details. Long, spindly steel legs give the piece that unmistakable mosquito stance, while a slender proboscis, wire antennae, metal wings, and a body assembled from an assortment of cleverly repurposed components bring the insect to life. Look closely and the fun really starts—you find yourself studying each piece of hardware and wondering what it was before David got his hands on it.
